What is Meditation?
Meditation is a practice of mindfulness, or being in the present moment. It involves focusing on your breath, your body, and your thoughts in order to create a space of awareness and acceptance. By taking the time to observe our minds and bodies, we are able to become more aware of our physical, emotional, and mental states, and to learn to sit with ourselves in a non-judgmental way.
Meditation can be done in a variety of ways, and the type of meditation that is best for you will depend on your unique needs and goals. The most important thing is to find a practice that works for you and that you can stick to.
How Do I Meditate?
Meditation is a practice of stillness, and it’s important to find a place and time where you can be undisturbed. Start by finding a comfortable position that you can stay in for a few minutes. Close your eyes and focus on your breath, noticing how it feels as it enters and leaves your body. When your mind wanders, take note of your thoughts without judging them, then gently return your focus back to your breath.
You can also use a mantra, or a word or phrase, to help you stay focused. Repeat the mantra to yourself as you breathe, or simply observe it as it moves through your mind. This can help to keep your mind from wandering and to bring you back to the present moment.
